The Dolmio television commercials depict a happy Italian family, their love of Dolmio pasta sauce and their exploits in the peaceful setting of their Tuscany village.

The puppet characters were brought to life through the amazing skills of puppeteers operating under a raised set. The puppeteers would control all the gross body movements of the characters, mouth movement and arm articulation. Animatronic eye blinks and eyebrow enhancements for some of the characters were operated off camera via radio control. Everything was fabricated from scratch by M.E.G. including the costumes and accessories. The puppets were a combination of sculpture, foam fabrication and animatronics and were airbrushed to give them their final colour palette.
